Fortunately
nightlife in Myanmar is almost non-existent; In Yangon there
is a possibility to visit specially for tourists arranged
evenings where you can see folk-dances and costumes from
local minorities. Also there are some nightclubs usually
visited by chinese businessmen where you can see fashion-shows
and hear local singers.Usually the entrance fee is ten dollar;
2 drinks included. Also you can start singing in various
karaoke bars. Some pubs exist where young people come to
play guitar and have a drink. Also a nice place to go is
chinatown, when at Sule pagoda walk into Mahabandaloostreet
for about a kilometer and you will see it at your right
hand. Many shops with open-air barbecues and lots of drinks
available. Nightlife usually finishes around midnight sometimes
1 a.m. Also in Mandalay some nightlife exists; but in the
country at 9 p.m. there is nothing more to do than sit in
teastalls like the Myanmar people do. In Bagan it is also
possible to visit puppet-shows.
Things
are different during full-moon. Fairs are being organized;
children walk with paper rabbits,people meditate at pagodas
and when you meet them in the night they offer you fruitjuice;water
and some small snacks. Whenever you have the opportunity
to visit the circus, do it.Shows last from 8 p.m. until
5 a.m. I saw U Ma Ma circus twice and I believe only this
circus is already worth a visit to Myanmar.Theatre,acrobatics
and ofcourse the elephant together with a crowd of only
locals make this an experience not to be missed. The level
of acrobatics can easily compete with Chinese state circus;
Russian state circus or cirque du soleil. The music is loud
enough to keep you awake till 5 a.m. After midnight it is
only theatre and singing.
