Food
and agricultural products are mainly sold by women. Cattle is dominantly
a male business. You have to take great care when visiting cattle
markets as the buffalos and cows are very curious animals in my
opinion. Many times they runned towards me to have a closer look.
And many times only a quick side step combined with the rope pulling
from the cattle sellers prevented me to be runned over by the animals

Women
trying to sell fruit to tourists near Pakoku (boat Mandalay to Bagan)
trip of about ten hours downstream. If you do not like tourist crowds
I suggest you take the boat the other way round(upstreams)(Bagan
to Mandalay) It takes about 25 hours and at night the boat stays
in Pakoku. The boatsmen were very nice to make us a place to sleep
in the restaurant of the boat. The windows were closed to keep the
musquitos out but the heat stayed in. Bring torches as light is
not available on the boat. Sometimes the boatsmen have a torch for
you. |
