Only brand new notes,unfolded,unstamped,undamaged,are changed or accepted without problems. Higher nominations have a better rate.The smallest spot,fold ,writing or anything else on a banknote can make people unwilling to accept the note.

It is possible to change money using the market rate at banks at the airport. US$ 1000 or euro 500 for one person is changed without problems. Here and at Thin Pyu you will get the best rate , other places the black market with a lower rate is still in use.
