Chin state (continued)
It took me several days to find a tattooed Chin lady. She is well in her nineties. Almost blind. She told us she got her tattoo when she was 15 years old.Usually you don't see a completely tattooed face.In 2008 I learned this lady has passed away. She lived north of Magway.Sometimes you can see people with a tattoo pattern like arrowheads all over their face. This lady is the only one I have seen with a full coverage of her face. The custom of full coverage almost doesn't exist anymore. Guides told me in 2008 they had not seen this kind of tattoo for a long time. The reason for the tattoo I was told that women in former days where kidnapped. To make them less attractive for kidnapping tattoos where applied. Another advantage was that years after kidnapping you still would know where the woman belonged.
